What
Are The Advantages of Permanent Make-up?
Permanent make-up is perfect for the busy person who has little
time to apply make-up, for the athlete who wants to look natural
and those with oily skin whose make-up seems to disappear
after a short time. Also, those allergic to conventional cosmetics
or contact lens wearers may benefit from the application of
permanent make-up.
In
What Other Ways Is Permanent Make-up Useful?
Permanent make-up is very often used to "correct
nature's mistakes." Examples of this are....eyebrows
where one is higher than the other, or lips that "shrink"
or lose color with age. Still other necessary uses of permanent
make-up are for those that have vitiligo or alopecia. And
lastly, skin repigmentation due to burns or reconstructive
surgery (i.e. breasts, cleft lip).
Is
Permanent Make-up Really Permanent?
Although some "fading" may occur and a "touchup"
visit every couple of years maybe necessary, the pigment will
remain in the skin forever. It is essential that a sun block
be applied over the permanent make-up area at any time that
you are exposed to the sun or a tanning bed.. Also, chlorine
is a bleach and continuous exposure can "fade" pigment.
Many skin rejuvination products and processes such as retin-a,
alpha-hydroxy, laser resurfacing, chemical peels and micro
dermabrasion can also cause premature fading of pigment.
What
About Sterilization, Sanitation, And Infection?
Please be assured that your health and safety are of utmost
importance to me. Sanitary surroundings, sterile equipment
, disposable needles, and quality products
are a must.
Is
There Discomfort Involved?
In the most delicate areas, some discomfort may be experienced.
The use of topical anesthetic helps to lessen any discomfort.
If you are apprehensive and would like to take medication
prescribed by your physician prior to your appointment, we
have no objections. Everyone has a different threshold of
pain but we find that overall the discomfort is short lived
in exchange for long term reward that you get from the procedure.
Are
There Any Precautions That Should Be Taken Before Any Procedure?
Only with the lips. If you have ever had fever blisters
we suggest that you obtain a prescription for Zovirax or Valtrex
capsules from your physician and begin taking them two days
prior to the procedure. (5 days total) Also, to lessen inflammation,
Benadryl is recommended the morning before and the evening
following the procedure.
What
Can I Expect Immediately Following A Procedure?
I approach this process with great care. The results immediately
following the procedure will look somewhat darker and more
pronounced than desired. Within the week, the excess pigment
is sloughed off leaving a soft natural look. Right afterwards,
you may experience slight swelling and redness but only minimal
discomfort.
How
Long Does It Take And Can It Be Completed In One Visit?
Most procedures take approximately two hours. About a month
following the initial application, one or two "touch-up"
visits will be scheduled to perfect the lines and colors.
There is no additional charge for these visits. Slight maintenance
may be required in months or years to come. There will be
a nominal charge for those visits.
Is
It Expensive?
Fees vary from $275 to $600 per procedure, depending on
the amount of work involved. Skin camouflage is based on an
hourly rate. No doubt that you have seen advertisements or
have heard of services being offered from under $100 to over
$1000 per procedure. It is advisable to take the time to check
quality and experience of the technician before making your
decision. This procedure is permanent and can be enjoyed forever.
